Having been a fan of Extreme for a long time, I went to my first concert. My children are huge fans of DMB and have been urging me to join them for quite a while. I have liked his music commercially and somewhat of a fan. DMB, with its dedicated following reminiscent of a "cult", has loyal fans who are steadfast in their support for his shows. Despite all this, here's my take: Vocally, he sounded great. He performed for nearly 3hrs. I could only identify ONE song and his rendition of Jim Hendrix's "Watchtower", where Zac Brown joined him onstage (very cool!). There was significant downtime between songs spent walking around the stage, chatting with bandmates, and occasionally engaging with the audience. This struck me as odd since he could have included more of his mainstream hits. It seemed like he preferred to play songs that he loves rather than what the fans love. The band is musically fantastic and talented. Overall, it was not a bad show, and I enjoyed the experience.
